Roasted Green Tea Made from Tencha Stems
This tea is made using the stems of Tencha, the tea leaves used to make Matcha – a rare choice for Hojicha. Compared with the stems of regular Gyokuro or Sencha, Tencha stems are softer, and can scorch easily with during standard roasting. To bring out their best character, we gently roast them using far-infrared heat, carefully controlling the temperature.
Thanks to this special process, the tea has a paler, whitish appearance compared with our regular Hojicha products.
Once brewed, you can enjoy the sweet, toasty aroma of the stems and a clear amber liquor. On the palate, the tea has very little astringency, with a clean, pleasantly sweet finish that spreads gently in the mouth.
It pairs beautifully with both meals and sweets, and is also perfect for warming your body on the cold days of autumn and winter.
