Uji Shincha "Sencha Hachijuhachi" — A Celebration of the Season's Finest Tea
Shincha—the season's first tea—sprouts and is harvested from regions blessed with a warm climate.
Among these, the season for Uji Shincha reaches its peak around the "88th Night" (Hachijūhachi-ya), a traditional marker known for offering the best balance of aroma and flavor.
The “88th Night” falls on the 88th day after the first day of spring (Risshun)—which this year is May 1st.
Our Uji Shincha "Sencha Hachijuhachi" is a fragrant green tea made by blending leaves harvested at this most flavorful and aromatic time of the year.
To capture the unique, fleeting aroma of these young tea leaves, we take great care during production.
Rather than over-processing, we treat the leaves gently, avoiding unnecessary damage, and apply a delicate, low-temperature firing to finish the tea. Every step reflects our uncompromising dedication to quality.
The result is a translucent, yellow-tinged liquor with a refreshing aroma that rises with the steam, and a smooth umami that unfolds across the palate.
We at Fukujuen are proud to present this exceptional Uji Shincha.
We invite you to savor its refined taste and seasonal charm.
