Premium Japanese Green Tea Blend from Kyoto

A harmonious balance of depth and serenity.

“Aun” (阿呍) is a concept rooted in Buddhist and Zen philosophy.
It represents the beginning and end of all things, often compared to the letters “A” and “Un”, symbolizing the first and last sounds of the universe.

In Japanese culture, “Aun” also describes a perfect harmony between two elements — a natural understanding without words, where balance and unity are achieved.

The name Aun reflects this idea of harmony.
With each cup, we hope to offer a moment where flavor, aroma, and calm reflection come together in perfect balance.

A Unique Blend of Gyokuro Karigane and Tencha

The Shikunshi series introduces four creative teas that explore the rich mellowness (“maromi”) of Japanese green tea.

Aun Blend combines:

Gyokuro Karigane – stems of Gyokuro tea, known for their distinctive sweetness and rich umami
Tencha – the leaves used to produce Matcha, prized for its deep aroma and savory umami

The natural sweetness and umami of Gyokuro Karigane blend beautifully with the rich, savory aroma and depth of Tencha.

As these two expressions of umami come together, they unfold gently on the palate, creating a uniquely layered and harmonious flavor experience.

Gyokuro Karigane can also be enjoyed with slightly hotter water, making this blend a comforting choice even on colder days.

A Tea Inspired by the “Shikunshi”

The name Shikunshi (四君子) refers to the “Four Gentlemen” of East Asian art — plum blossom, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum.
These plants symbolize elegance, resilience, and quiet strength.

The Shikunshi tea series reflects these values, inviting you to enjoy a moment of calm reflection through tea.

What is Tencha?

This tea is blended with Tencha, a rare Japanese green tea known for its delicate fragrance and rich umami.

Tencha is specially cultivated to produce Matcha. Before harvest, the tea plants are shaded from sunlight for about 20 days, which enhances their sweetness and deep umami flavor.

After harvesting, the leaves are steamed and carefully dried without the rolling process typical of other green teas. The stems and veins are then removed, leaving only the soft parts of the leaf called Tencha.

These leaves are traditionally stone-ground into fine powder to make Matcha, but when brewed as leaf tea, Tencha offers a uniquely fragrant and elegant flavor experience.

Brewing Guide (Hot)

For the best experience, brew at a low temperature.

  1. Add 3 g (about 1 teaspoon) of tea leaves to a teapot

  2. Pour 60 ml of water at about 80°C / 176°F

  3. Steep for 1 minute

  4. Pour slowly, ensuring every last drop is served

Lower temperatures highlight the tea’s natural sweetness and umami.

Cold Brew Method

  1. Add 10 g of tea leaves to 500 ml cold water

  2. Refrigerate for about 2 hours

  3. Remove the leaves and enjoy chilled

Cold brewing enhances the tea’s smooth sweetness and refreshing character.

Elegant Traditional Canister

The tea is packaged in a beautifully designed hexagonal canister inspired by traditional Japanese tea containers.

The hexagonal shape reflects the tortoiseshell pattern, a symbol of longevity and good fortune in Japanese culture.

After enjoying the tea, the canister can be reused for storing tea or other small items.
